this DAMN cake!!

Well guys we're snowed in. So I decided to take this opportunity to get a head start on baking, right? BAD IDEA. (This started two days ago mind you) Okay let me preface all of this by saying that we only have one pan in each size, and baking isn't exactly my favorite thing. Cleaning is worse haha. So, to try and speed up this baking process so I could get on to the creating, I put the 3 different sizes I needed for the corset cake in the oven at the same time. Apparently this is a rookie mistake, because they all 3 spilled over, took 2 hours to bake, and not a one of them came out right! Oi. I was able to shave off the bad part of the 12 down to an 8, and I'm still trying to make the 8 and 6 work. The rest of the cakes came out perfectly thank god. We also figured out the cake stand! It's a little big, but hey. I'm happy with it. I chose to core the cakes individually and then thread them onto a copper pipe which we screwed onto the base. For a cake that's around 16 inches tall, it's perfect! Today is dirty ice and carve day. I will probably end up making another batch of fondant and (maybe) some more rhinestones. I am most nervous about the corset tier. Obviously. With this snowstorm I can't go out and grab cake boards, so today if I figure out I need them then I wont be able to work on the corset tier at all today. Which is scary. I'm just praying the whole thing doesn't fall. And I don't even want to THINK about transportation right now. ><
Welp. I'm off to mix the buttercream. Wish me luck!
